Report on visiting of Central Jail, Aizawl
Ms. Mimi H. Rosiamliani, Project Coordinator and Mr. Lalengvara, Project Assistant visited Central Jail on 22nd January, 2021. As Interaction with the inmates was impossible due preventive measure from the pandemic, interaction was held with Mr. Lalnunsanga, Jailor.
During the interaction, various issues faced by the inmates were discussed. Apart from that the case of foreign prisoner named Mr. Wu Wen Fa S/o Wu Shu Shen of Pudong, Shangzhi, China who was arrested U/S 14 Foreigner Act, 1947 on 27.04.18 was also discussed. The Jailor therfore, requested the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority to take necessary action for repatriation for the said inmate as the period of imprisonment had over.
On the day of the visit, 48 lifers, 255 UTPs, 153 R.I Convict, 88 S.I Convict, 3 Child were imprisoned out of which 5 inmates were on Parole Leave.
