REPORT ON HEALTH CAMP AT CENTRAL JAIL ON 10.03.2021
A day long Health Camp for Jail inmates at Central Jail (Male Section) was held on 10.03.2021 in collaboration with National Institute of Locomotor Disabilities(RC) and National Mental Health, Mizoram. The Health Camp was organised so as to ensure all the inmates get medical treatment and to rehabilitated and suggest remedial or ameliorating measures. While performing Health Camp masks were provided to all the inmates and social distancing was also maintained as far as possible in view of the situation emerged from COVID-19.
In this programme, specialized doctors from various departments from Zoram Medical College like Medicine Department, Department of Dermotology, Department of Opthalmology, ENT, Audiology, Department of Orthopaedic, Pharmacist etc were entrusted to screen the medical conditions of the inmates. According to the Medical Officers most of the inmates were suffering from hypertension, skin diseases, nerve problem, eye problem etc in which 5 persons were eligible fo applying disability certificate, two persons were registered for prosthetic arms. According to the Orthopaedic, one inmate who is unable to walk and needs to be carried by other inmate required to undergo MRI screening and request the Mizoram SLSA to take necessary steps so that proper treatment could be done.
During the camp, the Member Secretary had an interaction with the inmates.
The programme was benefitted by 573 inmates, medicines were also distributed among the inmates who were not able to tolerate the burden of medical expenses.
