REPORT ON ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON MEDICO LEGAL CASES
The Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with National Mental Health Programme, Mizoram organized One Day Workshop on Medico Legal Cases on 22nd April, 2019 at Conference Hall, Economic & Statistics Department, New Secretariat Complex.
In this programme Mr. Vanlalenmawia, Member Secretary was the moderator and delivered Introductory as well as welcome speech to all the participants. The workshop was divided into four sessions.
At the first session, Prof. L. Fimate, Director MIMER presented paper on “An Overview of Medico Legal Cases.” The session was followed by discussion and interaction with the participants.
At the second session, Dr. Lalringmaia, HOD, Forensic Medicine Toxicology, State Medico Legal Officer-cum- Police Surgeon presented paper on “Specific study on Rape and Murder” followed by discussion and interaction with the participants.
At the third session, Dr. Ruth Lalmuanpuii, Psychiatrist, Kulikawn Hospital, Aizawl presented paper on “Medico Legal Aspect of Mental Illness” followed by discussion and interaction with the participants.
At the fourth session, Mr. H. Sangchungnunga, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory presented paper on “Combating Crime with DNA Technology” followed by discussion and interaction with the participants.
For winding up the programme Dr. Robert L. Khawlhring, Nodal Officer, National Mental Health Programme, Mizoram proposed a vote of thanks.
The participants for the workshop were from Department of Police, Medical Officers, Government Advocates, Judicial Officers, Mizoram College of Nursing, Government Mizoram Law College, Conciliators (Lok Adalat). As per the feedback received from the participants, they found beneficial to attend the workshop.
