ACTIVITIES
- LEGAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
It is expected to cover a wide number of villages, localities and institutions within the city/town areas as well as rural/remote areas by public gathering etc., and also, the greater reach afforded by electronic media such as televisions, radios and newspapers will be conducted. Especially, legal awareness campaign shall be conducted at atleast 5 nos. of colleges/schools in every month in each district. At the same time, the newly created districts shall be covered by the State Authority.
B. DOOR-TO-DOOR CAMPAIGN/ LEGAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
It is one of the most effective ways to apprise the public. It shall be carried out to reach the weaker and marginalized section of the society. Door to door campaign must be started from the remotest villages which are comparatively backward, economically, educationally and socially. Teams of staffs, panel lawyers, PLVs and Legal Literacy Clubs including members of NGOs shall be formed to carry out the programmes. Literature consisting of pamphlets, brochures, booklets, etc. reflecting about Fundamental rights & duties, etc. shall be distributed amongst the people during the campaign.
Teams during the door to door campaign shall identify persons who are in need of legal assistance but are unable to achieve or approach justice delivery system due to economic or other disabilities and to render services through the Legal Services Authority.
C. ADVERTISEMENT
Newspaper attracts readers of all ages. Many newspapers are also developed online that they reached many peoples. It shall display about the works and activities to be rendered by the Legal Services Authority, etc. in local language.
D. HOARDING, ETC.
Hoarding shall be erected at the public places in rural areas, towns and cities which are available to reflect the works and activities to be rendered by the Legal Services Authority and other important laws. Information and publicity of legal awareness given to the people by way of making banner, posters, wall paintings and legal awareness placard are quite beneficial for propagation of legal awareness to the remote areas where proper legal awareness campaign could not be made regularly.
E. WALKATHON / RALLY / RUNS, ETC.
It shall include walkathon/rally/runs, etc. The areas to be covered and participants shall be identified by State and District Authority. Appropriate placards are to be prepared to carry and convey the works and activities of the Legal Services Authority, etc.
F. COMPETITION
Competition in essay writing, on the spot painting competition, debate competition, quiz competition, slogan writing, etc. for spreading legal awareness on a specific topic shall be organized by the State & District Authority.
G. LEGAL AWARENESS IN PRISONS
Legal Awareness campaigns for prisoners and their relatives are to be conducted from time to time by the State & District Authorities including High Court Legal Services Committee.
H. WORKSHOP / SEMINAR
Workshop/Seminar relating to laws for School Teachers/Lecturers/Professors shall be conducted so that they can provide legal awareness amongst their pupils. And it shall also be conducted for member of Village Councils and Leaders of Non-Governmental Organizations.
I. CARNIVAL
Carnival for kids shall be organized in each districts to make them aware about the fundamental rights & duties, relevant laws etc.
J. TRANSLATION OF VARIOUS LAWS IN LOCAL LANGUAGE
Although the State of Mizoram is high in the literacy at the primary education level, it is poor in the legal knowledge till date. Therefore, translation of relevant laws in local language is very helpful to those persons who are educated in the general education. The State Authority may prepared and distributed to all DLSAs for using in their programmes.
K. FILM/ DRAMA
It is planned to make competition for making of a Film or Drama relating to fundamental rights & duties, laws etc. for all the institutions about 25-30 minutes having prize money for display in the local TV Channel and Doordharsan Kendra. Also, a short film be created/produced by SLSA/ DLSA/ HCLSC.
L. Panel Lawyers/Para Legal Volunteers/Legal Literacy Club
The Panel Lawyers/Para Legal Volunteers/Legal Literacy Clubs may identify for conducting legal awareness campaigns and may also appraise other methods like, quiz, debate, runs, etc. in consultation with the District Authority for successful of the programmes.
They shall distributed literature consisting of pamphlets, brochures, booklets, etc. reflecting about relevant laws, etc. shall be distributed amongst the people.
M. Other Department
The Legal Services Authority will organize programmes like awareness, seminars, workshop, competitions, etc. in collaboration with the concerned departments.
N. Lok Adalats including National and Mobile Lok Adalats
To organized Lok Adalats atleast twice in a month. Preferences must be given for organizing Mobile Lok Adalats at rural areas and especially for the newly created Districts.
O. JAILS VISIT
To visit all the Jails so as to ensure the condition of the inmates and of the campus by the State, District Legal Services Authorities including High Court Legal Services Committee once in a month.
P. Legal SERVICES CAMP
To organize Legal Services Camp in all the Districts including newly created Districts by the State and District Legal Services Authorities.
Q. OBservaNCE of Important DAYS
To observe all the important days by organizing an event so that community on large scale can participate.
R. IMPLEMENTATION OF NALSA SCHEME
To implement NALSA Scheme as effective as possible by MSLSA/ DLSA/ HCLSC.
S. Reports
Reports of the work done with video and still photos in good quality shall be submitted by the District Legal Services Authorities to the State Authority on monthly basis for onward submission to NALSA.
